The MPI story

1979 - 1985

From 1979 to 1985, Reinier Teunissen grew up in Hamont-Achel. Between the ages of 12 and 16, he worked at Well Drilling Vanduffel to finance his passion for cyclo-cross. Each well drilled required a pump, prompting Reinier to consider selling and installing pumps himself.

1985 - 1995

In 1985, at the age of 16, Reinier began selling, installing, and repairing pumps. Starting from a small storefront behind his parents' house, he eventually hired his first employee at the age of 21. Five years later, he expanded by opening his second branch in Hasselt.

1998

In 1998, a significant milestone occurred when Reinier acquired Aqua Mooris in Retie, marking exactly 10 years since his entrepreneurial journey began. Aqua Mooris, a well-established agricultural B2B company in Belgium, retained its name, and MPI (Mooris Pumps & Irrigation) was established. From then on, Reinier expanded MPI's scope to include wholesaling in water technology, specializing in pumps, pressure piping systems, and irrigation.

2015

In 2015, Reinier launched a cooperation plan with Leo China to ensure the distribution of A-brand pumps in the Benelux region. This initiative led to the establishment of Leo Pumps Europe in Belgium, where Reinier co-headed the operations.

2019

In 2019, MPI made a strategic move by acquiring Aubia, a direct competitor with similar operations. This acquisition was anticipated to bring numerous synergies, enhancing their presence in the Walloon and French markets. While both firms continued to operate independently, MPI solidified its position as the market leader.

2020

By early 2020, MPI faced space constraints at their warehouse in Arendonk, prompting them to relocate to a facility three times larger across the street. This move provided ample space to implement and expand their growth strategy effectively.
